In Tempe, Ariz., homeowners are adding green upgrades to their homes to help them sell faster. Rick Vullo wanted his home to sell faster so he called on GreenStreet Development to help him make the house more attractive in the marketplace.

Based on GreenStreet’s recommendations, Vullo added a range of green improvements such as dual-flush toilets, low-flow shower heads and a chicken cook and compost bin. Other improvements included a metal roof with a rain catchment system, a new energy-efficient HVAC system and high-performance windows.

The home earned the Emerald Green designation by the National Association of Home Builders. Homes that undergo recommended green upgrades typically sell after about 20 days on the market on average.
