Homeowners can find inspiration with more than 1,200 eco-friendly paint colors to choose from on Olympic Paints’ free ColorClix mobile app.
Within the app, users snap a photo of an item and then select any color in the photo. The app searches for a match from a 1,200-color library of zero-VOC interior and Dirtguard exterior paint colors. The app also helps users select paint colors, order samples and find retail locations across the United States.
Low-VOC paints emit lower levels of volatile organic compounds, chemicals that can cause negative-health effects, including dizziness and irritation of the eyes, nose and lungs. Paint companies have expanded their lines of low- and zero-VOC paints for consumers concerned about the indoor air quality of their homes.
The app aids consumers in selecting zero-VOC paints to match their home decorating projects.
"Our ColorClix app transforms how consumers take their daily color inspirations - colors in anything from furniture to a floral arrangement or an art pattern – and turn them into a design reality in their homes," said Jennifer Dodson, senior marketing manager for Olympic Paint. "The app brings an element of fun and spontaneity to the color process because anything can be an inspiration. By simply snapping a picture on a mobile device, homeowners can quickly find a matching shade of Olympic paint."
The ColorClix app allows consumers several options to match colors to any Olympic interior and exterior paint color:
Grab a color: Consumers snap a photo using their device's camera or select an existing picture from their photo library and select the color they'd like to match.
Get inspired: Users browse Olympic Paints’ designer collections, including the Audubon Collection, that highlight colors that complement each other.
Have a color in mind: Perfect for those who know what color they like but want to narrow down an exact shade, the app allows users to browse Olympic Paints' most popular colors by color family.
The mobile app also links to Olympic Paint's online color tools, which include a downloadable desktop application that gives consumers the ability to view the entire Olympic Paint color palette. Consumers can also virtually "paint" a room to instantly see how different colors work together in a space.
In addition, consumers can save projects and share them with friends via email, Facebook or Twitter through the mobile app or the desktop app.
The ColorClix mobile app is available in the Apple App Store or Android Market. The desktop version of ColorClix is available to download from Olympic.com for the Windows or Mac operating systems.
Olympic Paints are exclusively available at Lowe's stores nationwide, starting at $19 per gallon or under $3 for an 8-ounce sample.
