The Not So Big Showcase at SchoolStreet was designed by architect and author Sarah Susanka. It features Susanka's trademark design of showing how to live well in a not-so-big space.
The home is in Libertyville, Ill. in the SchoolStreet Homes development. It features a space tailored to human scale and all of the elements that homebuyers are looking for, such as smart design, energy-efficient features, multiple rooms that do double duty and a modifiable floor plan to allow homeowners to age in place.
The home includes a kitchen at the front of the house, connected to the front porch, in place of a formal living room. Since the kitchen and eating area is one of the most used areas of any home, it makes sense to place it in a key location. The home also has a library alcove that converts to a formal dining area, and a laundry room that triples as a hobby room and additional in-home office.
A slideshow of images is available to show the various features of the home.
