One way to go green is to build a structure with a smaller footprint, and use repurposed materials, as in this micro building in Megan Lea's Backyard House.
This house has a rustic vibe, and was built out of reclaimed barnboard with copper roofing. The raw finish is the perfect contrast to the lush green garden that surrounds it.
A wood stove heats the small house, so that it can be used all year long. It creates extra space for a home office, or guests, without costing a fortune.
Lea designed and constructed the home and the end result is nothing short of stunning. Additional photos of the interior and exterior of the home show the charming design.
