Watch HGTV Green Home Giveaway 2012

It's almost time to watch this year's winner of the HGTV Green Home Giveaway tour her home for the first time.

On Aug. 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, HGTV will air a 30-minute special with host Monica Pedersen surprising Mary Jones, of Katy, Texas, with the news she is the winner of a fully funished 2,300-square-foot green and energy-efficient home.

Follow Jones as she is whisked away to the sustainable community of Serenbe just outside of Atlanta, the location of this year's HGTV Green Home. The show is full of behind-the-scenes footage and a plethora of images of the stunning home.

    You can also see the building of this home at www.hgtvremodels.com - just search "Green Home 2012" and click on the "Video" tab. It's a well thought-out home in a very interesting community. A good model for future developments, which concentrates living/working/retail spaces in a small footprint, leaving the unused land around as a preserve where buildings cannot be built. It's a bit like having the best of urban and rural living in the same place. I highly recommend a visit to Serenbe - they have a nice B&B, great food in several restaurants, and all of the buildings are LEED or Earthcraft certified. Nice place.
