Whew. I'm nearly overwhelmed with the vast array of gorgeous kitchen cabinets, countertops, bathtubs, appliances, faucets and showerheads I've seen at The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in the two days I've been here in Chicago for the event.
Sub-Zero unveiled its new 36-inch French door refrigerator/freezer. While other appliance manufacturers have had a French door model in their lineup already, Sub-Zero waited to perfect the concept in their own Sub-Zero way. The resulting unit has an air purification system to reduce odors, bacteria, viruses and ethylene gas produced from produce inside the fridge. It also has a dual refrigeration system for the most energy efficiency.
And then Wolf Appliance debuted a convection steam oven that was so cool it made me want to rip out my existing oven and put that in its place. As in, right now. Especially when the chef at Wolf happened to mention that it makes the most amazing eggrolls without a single second of frying necessary for the ultimate in crispiness. (Yes. I like crispy. I'm the girl who eats those dark brown bits of French fries on the plate.)
Over at Toto, they showed a new toilet that is the lowest gallon-per-flush of any high-performing model. The new model uses only one gallon per flush. Amazing.
Tomorrow is the third and final day at KBIS and then it's back home for a couple of days, and then the team from ProudGreenHome is off to Nashville for the National Association of Homebuilders' National Green Building Conference & Expo from April 29-May 1.
