Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emit harmful gasses that can have negative health effects. They're often found in paints and other household products. But there are items on the market with little or no VOCs. Know what to look for:

  • Is"low" or "no" VOC on the label?
  • Check for VOC limits and make sure they're consistent with federal regulations
  • Consider water-based acrylic latex paints
