Bord na Móna Environmental Products U.S. changes name to Anua
Bord na Móna Environmental Products U.S., which develops, manufactures and sells wastewater treatment, water reuse and VOC/odor control systems, has a new name — Anua.
The Greensboro, N.C.-based company is the American subsidiary of Bord na Móna PLC, Ireland's leading utility service provider.
Bord na Móna's environmental business is a global operation with more than 20,000 installations across four continents. It is backed by the Ireland-based $500 million Bord na Móna Group, which has interests in fuels, horticulture, environmental, feedstock, resource recovery and power generation.
"Our new name, Anua, comes from the Irish word athnuaig, which means 'renew,'" said Shane Keaney, president of Anua. "This change is not merely cosmetic; rather, it reflects a renewed commitment to provide sustainable products that help communities, municipalities and industries manage their environmental impact more effectively and cost-efficiently."
Keaney explained the renaming symbolizes Bord na Móna's global transition from a traditional business heavily dependent on peat and fossil fuels to a new, more sustainable business focused on resource recovery, wind energy, biomass, environmental products, district heating and ecotourism.
Anua, which began its American operations in 1993, has expanded from a single product for residences and small commercial applications to a full range of clean air and clean water solutions for municipalities, commercial developers and industrial and residential markets across the United States. Major products include Mónashell VOC and Odor Control Biofiltration System, Puraflo Wastewater Treatment System and RainSava rainwater harvesting systems.
"We know the work we're doing now to find more sustainable pathways to clean air and clean water is the most important work we've ever done," Keaney said. "With this in mind, we've set ambitious growth targets in the U.S. for the next five years. And based on the enthusiastic adoption we're seeing now for our new products, we're confident we will meet those goals."
