Green Home Energy Rater Reviews Proud Green Home of Louisville
As the former Operations Manager for Green Building Consulting, Dave Horton is active in growing the high performance building market all over the country, but specifically in Greater Cincinnati.
He was the home energy rater for the Proud Green Home of Louisville, a high performance home built by UberGreen Spaces & Homes in the Norton Commons development.
As the third party certifier, Horton's job is to verify that the home meets the performance criteria set by the design and building teams. He has been the LEED Green
Rater and HERS Rater on more projects than any other professional in the Cincinnati area.
"We measure and we confirm the things that the team desired from the original concept of this project, we confirm that your concept came to fruition," Horton says. "We rate the building as it stands and use certain assumptions on occupants' behavior to arrive at a HERS Score, or Home Energy Rating System number."
Horton has been involved in rating more than 300 high performance homes, and estimates the Proud Green Home of Louisville is one of the most efficient homes he's ever rated.
"I can confidently say it’s in the top 1 percent of all of those homes, Horton says. "That what you get when you pursue PHIUS Plus certification and LEED Platinum certification, if you want to be at the top of these programs, you have to do the best of everything, and that's what they've done in this house."
David is a skilled tradesman turned energy geek. Earlier in his career he restored historic buildings throughout the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.
