Green roofs can put green back in your pocket

In many minds, rooftop gardens still draw some strange remarks. In many regions, homeowners don’t understand the environmental principles behind populating roof tops with vegetable gardens and other flora. However, for those who have the environment in mind, rooftop gardens are quickly gaining in acceptance.

Lois Vitt Sale, Chief Sustainability Officer at Wight & Co. and one of ProudGreenHome’s bloggers, points out in her latest blog post that roof gardens can prevent rain water from going down sewer drains, cool your house substantially (and therefore lessen heating and cooling costs), and add value to your home aesthetically.
