New High Performance Building Products Debut at IBS

More than 80,000 building professionals from across the country gathered in Orlando for the 2018 International Builders' Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show.

Manufacturers debuted new products in the expo hall, giving builders a preview of what's to come for the building season.

Here's a brief look at some of the exciting products that will be showing up in homes.

Marvin Home Automation – Lock Status Sensor

Giving homeowners peace of mind without adding complications for builders, the Marvin Lock Status Sensor is a fully integrated, factory-installed solution that indicates if a door or window is closed and locked or open and unlocked without requiring risky after-market modifications. It integrates seamlessly into new or existing security systems via wired or wireless connections and is compatible with a wide range of home security systems. Most importantly, its concealed design makes it the first solution on the market that has no visible components.

Huber Engineered Woods - AdvanTech SubFlooring

Advantech subfloorStrength, stiffness and moisture resistance are common qualities builders expect out of quality subflooring but a tongue and groove profile provides a more secure fitting. With AdvanTech subflooring, builders get better edge support. The way the edges of a panel are manufactured not only affects how the panels lock together during installation, but it also affects the long-term performance of the subflooring system. While some panels claim to provide an easier fit, what’s important is to make sure panels have a snug fitting tongue and groove, to reduce the chance for deflection – or up and down movement that can lead to squeaks.

Covestro - PUReWall panels

PUReWall is a high-performance, insulated structural wall panel that takes residential construction to the next level. The innovative design of PUReWall panels replaces traditional exterior sheathing and house wrap with a combination of polyisocyanurate (polyiso) continuous insulation on the exterior and structural spray polyurethane foam (SPF) in the wall cavity.

PUReWall panels are manufactured at a panelization facility, in a controlled environment, and installed at the construction site. This alleviates jobsite workforce bottlenecks, produces less waste, requires less wood use and results in a faster framing time for builders.

NanaWall - Cero System

The Cero® made its debut at IBS, offering the largest panes of glass available from NanaWall. Cero offers pure architectural minimalism through its clean, uniform and ultra-thin lines for maximum light-filled spaces that connect the interior to the exterior.

Ply Gem - MaxView Patio Door

The large aluminum three-panel, multi-slide door system covers an impressive 18 feet in width and 10 feet in height, while a minimalist frame design with vertical panel sight lines of just 19mm (3/4”) width maximize the glass area to truly blend the lines between indoor and outdoor. Featuring an electrostatically coated or designer anodized finish, the Ply Gem MaxView door complements the 46 exterior window color options available on Ply Gem’s MIRA Woodclad Collection to synchronize and enhance the curb appeal of any modern home or building.

CertainTeed - AirRenew

AirRenew wall board improves indoor air quality (IAQ) immediately following installation, and keeps working for up to 75 years. This revolutionary, industry-first gypsum product actively absorbs airborne formaldehyde and converts it into a safe, inert compound, improving IAQ for generations.

Cultured Stone - Sculpted Ashlar

Created with both contemporary and traditional applications in mind, Sculpted Ashlar presents consistent, clean lines and a unique tumbled finish. The profile debuts in three versatile colors: Silver Shore (light tones of green and grey), Grouse (medium tones of tan and brown) and Ferrous (dark tones of carbon blue, charcoal and copper).

“Sculpted Ashlar represents the perfect intersection between nature and precision with a bold interplay between rounded ledgestone features and more linear forms,” said Emily Bonilla, Product Development and Area Sales Manager at Cultured Stone.

Icynene - Classic Ultra

Icynene Classic Ultra is a low VOC innovation and holds a GREENGUARD Gold certification. In a first for Icynene the new open-cell product eliminates the requirement of paddle mixing by hand prior to application with the introduction of an expanding blade mixer – the Icynene Draw Mixer. The new product offers significantly better cohesion than existing Icynene open-cell spray foam insulation products. The new open cell formula provides R3.7 per inch R-Value.

Dow Building Solutions -  GREAT STUFF PRO Gasket

Dow says GREAT STUFF PRO Gasket is a scientifically proven, sustainable alternative to help contractors maximize energy efficiency for homeowners. It is a water-based, one-component sealant foam technology used to improve air-sealing performance by creating a tough seal between drywall and framing. The flexible foam stays in place and is durable enough to withstand scraping when drywall is slid into place, and its formulation does not expand like traditional one component spray foams. The solution also helps professionals work safely and sustainably via a low-VOC product.
