Pre-Fab Solar Farmhouse Blends Style and High Tech

Feb. 8, 2017

The Solar Farmhouse, the latest addition to the Deltec line of pre-fab homes, features a classic farmhouse look with modern functionality.

Not only is this home much more energy efficient than a traditional farmhouse with passive solar design and an air-tight building envelope, but it’s also much more functional with an open living area, spacious rooms, 10-foot high ceilings and plenty of storage. This modern farmhouse uses the advantage of a prefabricated home to deliver the perfect mix of traditional design with high performance amenities.

Deltec builds homes in its factory in North Carolina. The company was known for building storm-resilient homes designed for the storm-prone Carolina coasts. Last year it launched a line of net-zero models, the Renew Collection.

From the outside, the Solar Farmhouse reflects a classic vernacular design: the pitched roof, quaint front porch, white wood siding and simple lines. But beneath the rural exterior beats the heart of a high performance leader. The green design features passive solar with a photovoltaic roof and an air-tight building envelope that Deltec says can’t be duplicated by homes built on site.
