Five Ways to Improve Curb Appeal During Fall and Winter

As we approach the end of fall foliage in many parts of the country, the drab scenery associated with winter begins to set in. However, you don’t have to settle for that same dullness with your home’s exterior. Here are five things you can do to improve your home’s curb appeal during the colder months:

Decorations

The front door is the focal point of your home’s exterior, and decorations are a great way to accent your entryway during any month of the year. For the colder months, consider hanging wreaths or baskets inspired by seasonal colors and holidays.

Touch Up the Exterior

Fall is probably the most fitting name of all of the seasons as deciduous trees and other plants begin to shed their leaves. Areas of your home that were hidden during the warmer months are now revealed. This makes it a good time to focus on chipped paint, dirty siding and worn shutters. A little paint and elbow grease can go a long way.

Gutter Maintenance

If you’re considering putting a home on the market, potential buyers need to see that you are committed to general maintenance. Even if you can’t see the debris in your gutters, ignoring this chore can quickly cause problems associated with leaky roofs and water damage.

Lighting

During the shorter days of winter, many people spend all of their daylight hours indoors at work. This means people are more likely to miss all of your hard work in the mornings and evenings. Install floodlights or spotlights to highlight your favorite features. Path lights create a more inviting look and a safer walkway for your guests.

Decorative Door Glass

The glass in doors and windows acts as the eyes to a home. Decorative door glass can offer a unique and stylish option to boost the home’s appeal. ODL’s Decorative Door Glass selection offers many options for style and texture. Some glass textures increase not only the attractiveness of a home, but offer differing levels of privacy if desired.
