Home Comforts That Provide Long-term Savings

Whether you have blueprints on the table for a new home or want to improve your existing home, consider some innovative, highly-efficient amenities now to make life more comfortable and provide substantial energy savings in the years to come.

Tankless water heaters have evolved in to very efficient alternatives to the traditional tank water heaters.  Homeowners don’t often think of it, but the dinosaur in your basement is eating up energy 24/7/365 so you can have hot water at the turn of a faucet.  It heats continually while you are on vacation, at work, and when you are sleeping.

Instead, install point-of-use or whole-house tankless water heaters.  They only heat when there is a call for hot water.  And today’s efficiency can provide your family endless hot water, whether it is your bathroom, kitchen, seldom-used guest bathroom or your whole house.  It can either compliment your present tank heater so it doesn’t have to work as hard, or it can simply replace it.  Good savings, either way.

Radiant heating is another option that really adds comfort and savings.  Today’s electric radiant heat can be installed under new flooring, whether it is tile, wood, laminate  or any other material.  It can also be installed in the basement floor joists under existing flooring.  Radiant heat is self-regulated, silent comfort without the dry forced air of traditional furnaces that can blow allergens throughout your house.

Motion light switches are becoming more and more popular with our fast-paced lifestyles often leaving lights neglected as we rush about.  Install motion light switches that automatically shuts off the lights in a given room when there is no motion for a determined amount of time.  There are even remote options to control your lighting from anywhere.
