Making more efficient homebuilding decisions with mobile applications

In the world of home building and design, efficiency is key – both in timing and cost. Advancements in building materials technology have worked to accelerate home construction, while computer programs have simplified blueprinting, planning and allocating job responsibilities.

Even with the efficiencies made for the planning and construction process, homeowners often have difficulty making design decisions, which in the past, has worked to prolong construction timelines. But technology  – especially mobile applications (apps) – continues to advance to assist with and simplify the decision-making process. Manufacturers understand the benefits of this and are developing apps that align building product decisions with color and surface choices to alleviate past time (and efficiency) waste. Boral, a leading provider of cladding products and solutions for the residential and commercial markets, recently introduced the myBORAL Brick Designer app.

Designed to allow users to browse the company’s extensive collection of bricks, the free application makes it easy to match cladding selections with perfected color palettes. Boral worked with professional colorists to coordinate each offering with selections from the Cultured Stone® by Boral® and Sherwin-Williams® paint colors. The app makes it easy to save favored combinations and compare tastes so that homeowners have a good idea of design selections heading into the construction process.

By making it easy to assemble an entire cladding system, Boral is helping homeowners with a challenging part of their decision proves, ultimately optimizing the time builders spend on the job site and saving money on construction costs.
