One step you can take to have a quieter more comfortable home

Your home should be a refuge from the hustle of daily life – but a home without enough insulation may mean your home is noisier than it has to be.

Imagine wrapping your home in a fluffy blanket that not only makes it more energy efficient, it's also more comfortable and quiet.

That's one of the benefits we hear about homes wrapped in Tyvek® ThermaWrapTM R5.0 from DuPont. Tyvek® ThermaWrapTM R5.0 combines 1 1/2-inch-thick insulation, made with a mixture of polyester and polyolefin fibers, with the widely used Tvek brand water-resistive barrier.

The product is installed on top of the wood sheathing and under the exterior cladding, usually vinyl or brick veneer. It's designed to manage moisture and thermal bridging in one product.  It can help reduce a home's heating and cooling costs by up to 25 percent.

But an added benefit is that it makes a home more quiet. The insulation that helps manage heat movement through the wood framing also reduces noise from the outside.

One homeowner that lives in a home that uses Tyvek® ThermaWrapTM R5.0 found her home was pleasantly quiet, even in a noisy neighborhood where other homes were under construction. One day she went to the front door, and found it to be very windy outside. Inside, the home was so quiet she didn't know a storm was moving through.

If you're building a new home, or renovating an existing home, consider the benefits of Tyvek® ThermaWrapTM R5.0 for continuous insulation. It can make a home feel more comfortable, quiet and cozy.
