Products with a purpose (part 2)

Continued from part 1

Continuing Boral’s commitment to conservation, Boral's TruExterior® Trim is the first and only exterior trim product to be awarded a Cradle-to-Cradle Silver Certification. This designation represents the product’s minimal impact on the environment from material sourcing, manufacturing, and the life of the product, in addition to its ability to be recycled for reuse at the end of that life. Boral TruExterior® Trim also includes a minimum of 70 percent recycled materials as certified by the Scientific Certification System – the highest of all exterior trim products on the market. Produced in a new state-of-the-art LEED certified commercial facility in East Spencer, North Carolina, TruExterior® Trim has pioneered the new poly-ash category of trim. It outperforms competing products in its superior dimensional stability and durability, even in the face of extreme temperature and moisture changes.

Minimizing the environmental footprint, Boral Roofing’s premium clay roof tiles are all natural and 100 percent recyclable, with a recycled material content of up to 59 percent. They are the first clay roof tile manufacturer in the world to receive the prestigious Cradle-to-Cradle Gold Certification for environmentally sustainable products. Boral’s Cool Roof rated products lower energy consumption, reduce energy costs and offer a wide range of LEED point opportunities. The clay roofing tiles are produced in Corona, California, at a plant that utilizes sustainable manufacturing processes such as recycling the wash/clean down water, which is captured and reintroduced to the pumps without ever leaving the site.

Powered by the green building movement, sustainability is at the heart of how Boral does business. Driven by the growing desire of homebuilders, architects and buyers to include energy-efficient elements in building materials, Boral is playing a key role in creating a sustainable future for the home building industry.
