Lindal Cedar Homes’ environmental philosophy has never been one to “take”. Its philosophy is to use and replace. Western red cedar is the choice of wood used in Lindal homes, using smaller logs to maintain quality, not “old growth”. Lindal is a member of American Forests, the nation’s oldest conservation organization founded in 1875. Lindal believes in replenishing forests after harvesting and has contributed toward the planting of over 100,000 trees in American Forests’ Global ReLeaf restoration program since 1990. This effort not only restores trees, it helps clean our air and water, reduce carbon dioxide levels and provide vital habitat for wildlife. Lindal also purchases individual memberships to American Forests for Lindal homeowners.
Lindal’s environmental concern includes more than the forest. Lindal’s plant and home office recycles blueprint and office paper and uses recycled paper extensively. Lumber is not wasted. Every effort is made to maximize the use every board foot of harvested cedar.
