Home Innovation Research Labs recognizes NGBS Green Partners of Excellence

Green building is growing thanks to tireless advocates, and Home Innovation Research Labs recognized 30 NGBS Green Partners for their outstanding contributions to advancing green building in their communities.

These partners show a commitment to voluntary, market-driven, third-party certification of high-performance homes, according to  Home Innovation president and CEO Michael Luzier. Home Innovation Research Labs is the new name of the National Association of Home Builders Research Center. Since 2009 The Home Innovation Research Labs has offered certification to buildings built in compliance with ICC-700 National Green Building Standard (NGBS). Since then nearly 35,000 homes and apartments have been certified to meet the NGBS standards.

The 2013-2014 Home Innovation NGBS Green Partners of Excellence include nine residential building companies, six accredited verifiers, three architectural firms, and six exemplary program advocates from across the country.

"We also recognized six “Rising Stars” in the NGBS Green Certification Program – individuals and companies that embraced both the NGBS and the certification process quickly and have had very promising starts in the program over the last year," Luzier said.

“’Going Green’ was a logical path for building professionals to follow when the market was in decline and everyone was looking for something to set themselves apart and make the sale,”. “But now that the market is coming back, dedicated partners like these prove that participating in our rigorous third-party certification program isn’t just a gimmick or a fad – it’s a strategic business decision that is paying dividends and changing the marketplace,” Luzier said.

The annual partner awards provide an opportunity for Home Innovation Research Labs to recognize the leadership, innovation, and excellence of its NGBS Green certification program partners and other champions of credible green building in the residential sector. This year’s NGBS Green Partners of Excellence are:
