LG Reveals Next Generation VRF Systems, Controls Suite

Air conditioning technologies leader LG Electronics demonstrated its expanded 2017 lineup of commercial and residential HVAC solutions with a new customizable control system, next-generation variable refrigerant flow (VRF) technology, powerful new heating capabilities, and design tools at the 2017 AHR Expo.

“LG consistently pushes the boundaries in air conditioning technologies, leading the industry with superior efficiency and new product innovations, all of which can be seen at this year’s AHR Expo,” said Kevin McNamara, senior vice president, Air Conditioning Technologies, LG Electronics USA. “LG’s unparalleled commitment to providing cutting-edge technology along with the tools, resources, training and support to deliver a complete solution to our customers and industry partners, continue to be our top priorities for 2017 and beyond.”

LG’s VISION: New, Expanded Control Capabilities

LG MultiSITETMControls Suite

LG unveiled the future of the connected building this week with three new controls products. The LG MultiSITE Remote Controller, LG MultiSITE Communications Manager and LG MultiSITE VM3 Building Management Solution empower operators to take control of their buildings in ways that were not previously possible.

The LG MultiSITETM Remote Controller features a highly intuitive, customizable user interface that allows system managers to configure functionality and home screen appearance to meet the needs of a specific zone. The LG MultiSITE Communications Manager integrates the power of LG VRF technology into an existing third-party building management system, directly integrating with a VRF system and eliminating the need for a gateway. The LG MultiSITE VM3 building management solution maximizes the sophistication of control in each building system for cohesive building operation and synergistic performance.

LG’s TECHNOLOGY: New Innovative Air Solutions

LG Multi V™ 5

Taking AHR Expo by storm is the LG Multi V 5, the new flagship product in LG’s state-of-the-art air-source VRF systems. Representing the next generation in the popular LG Multi V family, Multi V 5 is available from 6- to 42-tons, with a choice of three-phase 208V-230V or 460V electrical power as heat recovery/heat pump outdoor units. New to the Multi V line-up are the single frame 16-, 18-, and 20-ton units.

The 20-ton unit represents the largest tonnage single frame on the market today. As a smaller and lighter solution, the Multi V 5 20-ton not only reduces footprint requirements, but also helps to reduce installation costs.

While the size of the Multi V 5 has been reduced, its performance has increased.  Building upon Smart Load Control of the Multi V IV, the Multi V 5 features Advanced Smart Load Control, which proactively addresses the impact of pending weather changes ensuring optimal comfort for all building occupants. The Multi V 5 also features LG Intelligent Heating technology that works to prevent frosting and defrosts as needed rather than responding once frost has reached a preset point. On top of active response capabilities, the Multi V 5 also features a new biomimetic fan design, which enables the unit to operate more efficiently and increase airflow while reducing the perceived noise level by approximately 20 percent.

For end-users of the LG Multi V 5, the high reliability, quiet operation and standard features that adjust cooling and heating as ambient temperature and humidity change, work together to provide precise comfort – while still reducing energy consumption.

LG Multi V S

LG Multi V S

For 2017, LG has expanded its popular Multi V S single-phase VRF lineup to include single-phase 2-ton heat pump and 5-ton heat recovery models, designed to provide excellent energy efficiency and the versatility of simultaneous heating and cooling. Announced in October, LG was the first to offer the industry’s first single-phase VRF 5-ton heat recovery system for the U.S. market. With the addition of 2- and 5-ton Multi V S models, LG now offers home and business owners across the country more energy-efficient air conditioning options than ever before.

LG RED°Heat Powerful Heating Technology

LG introduces optimized cold climate performance with industry-leading LG RED° Heat Technology. Products featuring LG RED° Heat boast superior heating performance: 100 percent heating capacity performance down to 5° F and continuous heating operations down to -13° F. This increased performance not only delivers heat when traditional models are unable to but also operates with incredible efficiency; making products with LG RED° Heat the ideal heating solution for less temperate regions of the US. LG RED° Heat Technology is currently available on the 9K and 12K as well as the new 15K and 18K Btu/h capacities of the Art Cool Premier systems.

LG Smart ThinQ®

New to the air conditioning suite of products is the ability to control Smart ThinQ enabled indoor units via Wi-Fi using the LG Smart ThinQ application. Now users have the flexibility of controlling their home’s precise comfort from their fingertips alongside other Smart ThinQ enabled LG devices, such as refrigerators, ranges, washing machines and robotic vacuums. This capability enhances the efficiency and convenience, giving unprecedented control to create a truly connected home.

Smart ThinQ technology is currently available standard on select duct-free systems, including the extended piping single zone system as well as all units that are Smart AC enabled.

LG’s COMMITMENT: New Design, Monitoring and Service Tools

LATS Revit

To complement LG’s award-winning AutoCAD-compatible design software, LG LATS CAD 2, LG is introducing its new LATS Revit software. LG LATS Revit, the first VRF design software of its kind in the U.S. market, is a seamless extension of the industry-standard building design program, Revit. By eliminating transitional errors between previously incompatible programs and incorporating system design improvements, Revit and LG LATS Revit maintain building design integrity between programs – creating a more fluid design process and resulting in a significant reduction in design time and increased accuracy.

Mobile LG Monitoring View (LGMV) Application

The Mobile LGMV Wi-Fi module and app, designed specifically for LG Multi V, Multi F, and Multi F MAX systems, together provide remote real-time monitoring and troubleshooting capability for LG air conditioning systems. Mobile LGMV displays and graphs operation data for LG indoor and outdoor air conditioning units. The tool also shows cycle information, error codes, test reports, and can be used to set indoor unit operating modes – giving technicians real-time access to system operation information on a mobile device while enabling the user to review diagnostic information, graph data values and easily troubleshoot issues.

At 2017 AHR Expo and beyond, LG demonstrated an array of controls, innovative and powerful air conditioning technologies and industry-leading tools and services that meet the needs of today’s buildings and homes.
