Natural insulation keeps bugs out and warm air in
Kill bugs and save on home heating costs with a new product that combines eco-friendly insulation and pest control. New Thermal Acoustic Pest Control or T•A•P insulation from Pest Control Insulation Systems is a blown-in cellulose insulation that is installed on top of existing home attic insulation.
The product incorporates two common technologies – borate-based pest control and premium cellulose insulation - resulting in a patented Energy Star-labeled pest control insulation with fire-retardancy, sound-deadening and pest-controlling properties. EPA-labeled and acceptable for use around humans and pets, T•A•P helps control cockroaches, silverfish, ants, termites and many other crawling insects.
The product is sold through licensed national, regional and local Pest Management Professionals in all 50 states.
"T•A•P Insulation leads a new generation of pest management and energy efficiency and adds real value to a home," said Bill Turk, co-founder and CEO of Pest Control Insulation Systems, the manufacturer of T•A•P Insulation. "Comprised of more than 85 percent recycled material, T•A•P utilizes borates, long proven as less toxic than synthetic pesticides, as its active pest control ingredient; and is the only EPA- and Energy Star-labeled pesticide that saves homeowners money through lower utility bills."
Adding insulation in an attic helps homeowners reduce heating and air conditioning bills, but adding T•A•P Insulation both lowers energy bills and helps control insects that commonly nest in attics.
Turk estimated that 46 million homes in the United States do not have adequate attic insulation. "T•A•P Insulation provides a dual-purpose solution that enhances comfort and improves a home's energy efficiency in both winter and summer," he said. “Adding insulation in an attic helps homeowners reduce heating and air conditioning bills, but adding T•A•P Insulation both lowers energy bills and helps control insects that commonly nest in attics."
