LG Electronics USA, a leading U.S. residential solar panel provider, has extended the product warranty by a decade for one of its popular modules.

Warranties are ballooning to 25 years from 15 years for LG’s award-winning NeON high-performance modules due to increased product innovation, reliability and a company commitment to the energy-saving solution, officials said in a release.

The new warranty covers LG NeON 2, NeON R and NeON 2 BiFacial modules in the United States.

NeON modules endure rigorous testing throughout the production process, including being tested multiple times as required by the IEC standard.

The company’s best-selling NeON 2 panels feature LG's Cello technology, which uses circular wires for better light absorption and incorporates 12 wires instead of the traditional three busbars, reducing electrical loss and increasing power output and reliability.

The warranty announcement comes as LG plans to build a $28 million solar module assembly plant in Huntsville, Ala. Expected to be in operation in early 2019, the plant is expected to produce 500 megawatts of high-performance solar panels annually, starting with NeON 2 modules.
