Six residential projects were chosen as winners for the 2015 Red Diamond Achiever (RDA) Awards from Integrity Windows and Doors.
The RDA Awards allow trade professionals the chance to showcase their innovative Integrity projects on a national stage. Six winners were chosen by a panel of building industry experts, while one winner was chosen as People's Choice by popular vote from all projects entered.
The 2015 judging panel consisted of:
- Lou Manfredini, nationally recognized DIY expert and host of Ask Mr. Fix-It, Lou Manfredini's Home Improvement Minutes and HouseSmarts
- Christine Marvin, fenestration industry expert and Director of Marketing for Marvin Windows and Doors
- JoAnne (JoJo) Liebler, writer, producer, video and television host
- Erika Taylor, Chief of Content and Brand Strategist for Professional Remodeler magazine
- Shawn McCadden, nationally-known speaker, business trainer, columnist and award-winning remodeler
"When I look at our winning entries this year, I see the incredible knowledge and skills that builders, remodelers and architects bring to a home," said Becky Felling, Director of Marketing at Integrity Windows and Doors. "These exceptionally high quality projects show the value that Integrity brings to trade professionals and homeowners alike: windows and doors that use the pioneering Ultrex® material, and have an incredible amount of options to get just the right look for any project. It's exciting to honor these innovative builders, remodelers and architects as 2015 Red Diamond Achiever winners."
Judged winners will receive a VIP tour of Minneapolis and Warroad, Minn., including a special reception with Integrity leadership and Marvin family members, and the People's Choice winner will receive an iPad Air. All Red Diamond Achiever winners and other top entries will also be featured in a 2016 calendar, which will be available fall 2015.
From a field of over 250 entries, the judging panel chose six projects from around the country that best exemplify Integrity's promise of beautiful windows and doors that can be used in a variety of homes and projects.

For years, the client and a close coterie of friends made summer sojourns to the same beach house on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, where many memories, stories and legends were born. Following the demolition of this fabled retreat, Mr. Phillips resolved to create a place for himself and his friends more convenient to his home in Washington, D.C. His new beach house is set on an island in the beautiful and federally protected tidal marshlands adjoining Rehoboth Bay, at Rehoboth Beach, DE.

OCEAN VIEW HOUSE
This new, ocean-view home is built on a residential street two blocks from of the Atlantic Ocean. The home was designed to balance the owners’ desire for a modern beach-house style while still belonging to and enhancing the established neighborhood of original cottages and newer, three-story homes. Designed for a 40-foot wide lot, the home makes the most of the narrow, 26-foot-wide buildable area through the use of cantilevered decks and porches. The home’s scale is kept in proportion to the original houses on the street by limiting the front to two stories and by setting the roof deck behind a gabled parapet wall. Integrity® All Ultrex® windows and doors were specified for this house because of their durability to stand up to the harsh, coastal environment and meet the strict impact zone ratings.

The owner’s goal was to create a lifetime family home using salvaged materials from an antique farmhouse and barn that had stood on another portion of the site. The timber roof structure, as well as interior wood cladding, and interior doors were salvaged from that house, while sustainable new materials (Maine cedar, hemlock timber and steel) and salvaged cabinetry and fixtures from a mid-century-modern teardown were interwoven to create a modern house with a strong connection to the past. Integrity® Wood-Ultrex® windows and doors were a perfect fit for this project. Integrity provided the only combination of a durable, thermally efficient exterior frame combined with a true wood interior.

NEWTON CUSTOM HOME
This custom-built, modern home was constructed three houses away from the owner's original dwelling, which was a much more traditional and ornate structure. For their new home, the owners desired low-maintenance, single-story living with a contemporary feel. The house was designed to showcase clean lines, natural light and large open spaces to house their collection of paintings and sculptures. Integrity® Wood-Ultrex® windows, with a black exterior finish, met the design, aesthetics and energy requirements needed for the project. In keeping with the modern look, the Integrity windows helped incorporate large openings and glazing areas. As with most modern homes, bringing the outside view into the home is key to integrating the house with the landscape. The large window openings let the view be the artwork.

The remodeling inspiration for this home was to design and build a home that complements Chicago's North Shore architectural style. The house is situated along lake Michigan and therefore needs to stand up to the lakefront’s extreme weather conditions. Knowing that Integrity® windows are built to resist the ravages of heat and cold turned out to be a big factor in choosing Wood-Ultrex® windows from Integrity. The windows are designed to allow for a low rate of thermal contraction and expansion, which provides a tight seal with no leaks. Plus, the windows’ size and unique divided lite patterns added character and fit in well within this historic neighborhood.

PRIVATE RESIDENCE IN GREEN HILLS
With architectural influences from the desert southwest, this new home is located on an unusually shaped site that’s surrounded by other residences. The project was designed to create a private, compound feeling to allow the home to tuck into the surrounding vegetation. As the new landscaping matures, the home will gradually become almost invisible–a hidden retreat in a densely populated area. After evaluating using both aluminum-clad and Integrity® for the 37 windows, the choice became obvious. Integrity came out ahead when comparing performance, cost and timelines along with aesthetic considerations. Integrity’s desirable exterior color and availability of a wide variety of shapes, styles and configurations made the choice a simple one.

A beautiful newly constructed home, this open and spacious residence is located on the bay side of Bethany Beach in Delaware with panoramic views of the bay. Selecting stylish windows and patio doors to match the homes elegance and withstand the cruel oceanfront environment was no problem for the builder. Integrity® offered the performance, energy efficiency and design options, including tinted glass, that helped make this home one of the finest in the community. Unique to this project was installing Integrity’s Four Panel Sliding door, which proved to be a great fit for the seaside climate and opened up the home with great views of the coast.
