Meet the biggest (ceiling) fan of your green home
Circulating conditioned air in a home with a ceiling fan spreads comfort and saves energy.
Most consumer-grade ceiling fans are low volume high speed fans. But commercial level low speed high volume fans are entering the residential market and offer a high quality alternative to the standard ceiling fan.
At the 2015 AHR Expo, Matt Ryan, sales manager of MacroAir, reviewed the company's newest fan offerings and discussed what benefits it would have in a residential application.
The new airVolution-d is a high volume low speed fan that uses a direct-drive electric motor that delivers 50 percent more power and 76 percent more efficiency while eliminating the gearbox and up to 150 pounds. The fan can support blades up to 24 feet long that are are propelled efficiently, silently and intelligently, helping to improve occupant health and comfort while dramatically reducing heating and cooling costs.
