Bamboo is actually a grass that functions as a single plant, self-propagating as it spreads horizontally underground. Because it can be harvested in as little as three years of growth in controlled forests, bamboo is considered a rapidly renewable flooring resource, which has environmental advantages over finite raw material and long-cycle renewable resources.
